OFF SEASON FAMILY FUN IN DOOR COUNTY

Whether you want to build a snowman or relax inside by the fireplace, there are plenty of activities for family fun during the off season in Door County. Here are ten family fun ideas for you.

  1. Ice Skating in Sturgeon Bay at Memorial Field.
    Memorial Field has a warming house, concessions, skate and hockey rinks and lights until 9:00 p.m. as weather permits in the winter.
  2. DC Adventure Center 
    Zip line year round at the Door County Adventure Center.
  3. Hands on Art Studio 
    Hands On Art Studio is a do-it-yourself Door County destination, offering patrons a freewheeling walk-in art experience. Open November to March Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  4. Sister Bay Bowl
    The Sister Bay Bowl is an authentic, family-owned supper club – just like the ones that were so popular in the 1950s and 60s with a six-lane bowling alley. Fresh made pizza available for eat in or carry out.
  5. Sledding at Peninsula State Park Hill 17
    Large hill with a tow rope. The number 17 fairway at the park golf course is a favorite sledding spot. The hill is steep! Adults must supervise children at all times. Toboggans are not allowed.
  6. Door County Trolley Winter Trolley Tour
    This one is for older families! Trolley guests will tour & taste at a Door County award winning Winery, followed by a cozy sleigh ride through “The Doors” most wintery landscapes…Top it off with a fireside lunch at the English Inn. 
  7. Mayberry’s Carriages
    Take a horse drawn sleigh ride. Bundle up the kids, and get ready for the snow to brush your face, as one of our beautiful teams transport you in our winter wonder land.
  8. Renard’s Cheese
    Go cheese tasting and get your squeak on… Renard’s Cheese Shop features a wide variety of cheese, cheese curds, homemade sausage and specialty foods from throughout the Door County area.
  9. Maritime Museum
    Pirates – Ship to shore:  This dynamic new exhibit explores the life and times of the buccaneers and scalawags that roamed the east coast of North America and the Caribbean Sea during the golden age of piracy.  Visit the costume room to don your pirate attire and explore the old port village of Nassau and walk the decks of the pirate ship Fortune.
  10. Third Avenue Playhouse
    This 84-seat theatre opened in June 2012 and is home to Stage Door Theatre Company, Door County’s newest professional troupe, offering “intimate plays in an intimate setting.”
